Home HVAC Repair Service in Las Vegas, NV

Common Reasons Why A/C Units Need Repair

  • The Coils Have Frozen
  • Refrigerant Is Leaking
Common sources of a refrigerant leak include:
  • Vibration damage
  • Weakened joints or connections in the heat pump or air conditioner
  • Indoor coil corrosion due to pollutants such as air fresheners
  • Chemical cleaners
  • Hair spray
  • Strained Capacitors and Contractors
  • Electrical Problems
  • The Blower Fan Is Damaged
  • The Thermostat Is Defective
  • The System is Older
The most common air conditioner malfunctions that Las Vegas and surrounding areas homeowners face include:
  • Issues with the condenser, coil, or fan
  • Low refrigerant normally due to a leak
  • Broken or faulty thermostats
  • Condenser capacitor from debris and lack of maintenance
  • Wiring problems
  • Additional issues caused from not changing the air filters inside of your home

If your unit is older and continually breaking down, it may not be economically feasible for you to keep spending money on repairs. A new central air conditioner can significantly improve your home’s efficiency by requiring less energy to do its job. According to Energy.gov, today’s top AC units use 30 to 50% less energy when producing the same amount of cooling as an older unit.

Another reason for replacing your A/C is a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating of less than 14. Before 2006, the minimum required Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) in Las Vegas was 10. Today, federal law sets the minimum SEER rating at 13 and the state of Nevada requires a SEER of 14. In a hot climate, an older unit could cost you so much that replacing it is a financially smart move.

Frequently Asked Questions

You should give us a call whenever you start hearing strange noises, or getting new smells coming from the unit. Other reasons might include warm air blowing while using A/C or utility bills dramatically increasing is your usage has been the same as always.

If you’d like to check a few things before calling us, you may start by checking there’s not any blockage in the furnace, check if the unit is actually on and set to a cycle-provoking temperature. You may also check the thermostat, it may be that it is running out of batteries. Note if something seems unusual about the smells, looks or sounds.

The temperature of your A/C system will depend on the temperature of the air entering in return. Ideally, room air should be between 15 and 20 degrees cooler than entering air. Keep in mind these ranges may vary depending on humidity in the air. Always wait at least 20 minutes since the unit started working to compare the levels of cooling.

A/C systems are closed systems. The refrigerant should not escape from the unit! If you do have a leak, call us right away at 702-567-0707 and we’ll be more than glad to help you!

You should consider replacement IF the cost of repair is more expensive than replacement, IF your system is over 15 years old, IF you system currently uses R-22 refrigerant, IF you want an upgrade on efficiency and a lowered energy bill.

You should consider repair IF your unit is less than 10 years old, IF your technician recommends a repair option that is less than replacement, if you are willing to potentially continue repairing the system.

Preventing major repairs, cleaning the unit, extending the life of the system, ensuring you receive the most from your unit are all benefits of regular tune-ups on the system. We recommend one in the spring to get your AC ready for the summer and one in the fall to get your furnace ready for the winter.

There are a lot of factors that go into this, so we recommend having a certified and trained technician to evaluate your home and HVAC needs. You can also use your home’s square footage and calculate the size of the system. It is about 400-600 square feet per 1 ton of forced air.

Typically, a frozen A/C unit is suffering from restricted air flow. What you can do right away after noticing is checking the filter! You may have accidentally blocked the air return or may be suffering a refrigerant leak. Give us a call and we’ll help you through this.

All equipments require a professional tune-up at least once a year to ensure they’re working at full capacity and to fix small issues that may turn into major problems if not noticed and taken care of.

There are actually a few places your unit could “leak”.

If you have poor airflow it could be caused by a tear/rip or loose connecting in your ducting. This means that the air could be leaking from the ducting and not getting to the room.

We can help you get your replacement parts! Give us a call today at (702) 790-8277.

We have a service visit of $79.00. This is our Diagnostic and Trip charge wrapped into one. To avoid paying this check out our Preventative Maintenance Packages to waive the $79.00 and get 15% off service and repair!

You should consider replacement if

  • The cost of repair is more expensive than replacement.
  • Your system is over 15 years old.
  • Your system correctly uses R-22 refrigerant.
  • You want an upgrade on efficiency and a lowered energy bill.
